When Guy Charbonneau first read Rolling Stone’s list of the 100 Greatest Singers of All Time, it almost looked like a My Space Friends List for his Le Mobile remote recording truck. “I did a quick count and realized that Le Mobile has recorded forty-one of them,” says Charbonneau. “Even I found that a bit amazing.” Among the top 20 on the list, Le Mobile has recorded nine: Aretha Franklin (1), Ray Charles (2), Bob Dylan (7), Stevie Wonder (9),… View this story

Kris Kolp’s Log Cabin Studio (Tallahassee, FL) has just undergone a complete renovation and expansion, nearly doubling in size to approximately 1,000 square feet of space. “Now I have three rooms to record and track in,” says Kolp, who broke ground for the project back in April 2008, plus a control room, the center piece of which is a Toft ATB24 console. “I purchased the ATB24 in a pilot program a little over a year ago, just before its general… View this story

This explosion of the digital sound reinforcement product sector over the last half-decade or so has produced a tempting array of solutions. I’ve watched these developments carefully, worked with most of the offerings, and seen other companies utilize these powerful tools to great benefit. My sound company recently started looking for a set of new consoles to support our expanding activities, so I began talking in earnest with manufacturers over what they could offer me in return for my money.… View this story
