AKG has extended its 700 MHz wireless system rebate program an additional three months, to end on September 30, 2010. The program - which went into effect March 1, 2010 - allows owners of any old 700 MHz system to trade it in and receive a cash rebate following the purchase of a new AKG non-700 MHz band, FCC compliant wireless system, or components that comprise a system. The program extends to any level of any manufacturer’s 700 MHz wireless…

The June 12 conclusion of the 2010 InfoComm show in Las Vegas is also the deadline for retiring wireless equipment in the 700 MHz band. The U.S. Federal Communication Commission (FCC) requirement to vacate 700 MHz spectrum - which includes wireless in-ear monitor and…

The Federal Communications Commission (FCC) has ordered that the operation of wireless microphones, in-ear monitors, and related equipment in the 700 MHz band will not be permitted after June 12, 2010. “We’re pleased that the FCC has issued a firm transition date for 700 MHz wireless equipment,” said Mark Brunner, Shure Senior Director Global Brand Management. “In anticipation of the post-DTV transition UHF landscape, Shure has been moving its product lines away from the 700 MHz band for the better…

The long-running Shure rebate program, which offers customers up to $1,000 for the trade-in of Shure 700 MHz frequency band (698-806 MHz) wireless systems as well as any other qualifying 700 MHz frequency band wireless systems and their related components, will be ending December 31, 2009. “The deadline for our wireless rebate program is fast-approaching,” said Mark Humrichouser, General Manager of Shure’s Americas Business Unit. “Unfortunately, some customers are unaware that Verizon, AT&T, and other new licensees have already begun…

As most of us should know by now, the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) has made its initial recommendations of the use of wireless microphone and communications systems alongside that of TV Band Devices and other spectrum users. The original proposed date of February 18, 2009, still has some implications, albeit put back to June 12, 2009, if and when that decision makes its way from the Senate through the House of Representatives. In the meantime, parts of the U.S. have…

In November, the Federal Communications Commission released the full text of its Second Report and Order approving the use of the “white spaces” – the TV channels that are not actually occupied by a broadcast station – by unlicensed consumer wireless devices. The FCC now refers to these as “TV Band Devices” or “TVBD’s”. The 130-page document provides details of the technical, operational, and regulatory requirements that the new devices will be subject to. The FCC’s attention to the needs…
