Dave Rat's NAMM 2004 Awards
I have no idea how many NAMM shows I have been to but I do remember
that it is always an overwhelming experience involving long hours, sore
feet and the mental challenge of trying to remember everyone's name.
For all of you who missed the show or who just want a run down of the
highlights, I have put together a 'Top NAMM Products' Awards page covering
the most important advances in the musical equipment industry. I hope
you find this both meaningful and important, so please read on and enjoy!

This was a clean sweep and easy home run win for the Cerwin Vega camp. They have really taken it to a new level with this powerful contender andI really can't see anyone trying to dethrone them in the near future but there is always next year. Congratulations Cerwin Vega!!!!! |

Well, this one was tough and deciding between the two finalists was very difficult. Take a look below and see for yourself. It is truly incredible that audio-technica and AV-Leader are so close (in the competition that is) and both are mic manufacturers, the coincidences are truly amazing. Well, after much debate, the grandfather clause weighed in audio-technica's favor and the winner is audio-technica. Congratulations audio-technica!!!!

Due to the overwhelming popularity of "The Best Letter A"
Award, I have added this new and exciting category. After weeding
through the numerous entries, it came down to two powerful contenders.
The well known and world renown speaker manufacturer BMS challenged
by the up and comming JBL Professional. |

This one was easy, a printer, a laser printer, a laser printer that etches, engraves and cuts wood and plastic, hooks up to your computer and prints actual things you can use. Starting at $10,000 you can draw pics on your printer and make pick guards, plastic connector panels, logo plates and it seems the uses are endless. An easy win, congratulations Versa Laser!!!!

As you can see, the two products below are both 'no brainers' for the Most Useful Award, it does not require a rocket scientist to see what a monumental challenge deciding between the two would be. Just take a few minutes and ponder the possibilities and myriad of things you could do owning either of these dream machines. Whether just relaxing with a triple neck or taking a little jam break on the edge of the half pipe, purely the fact that both finalists are guitars is amazing in itself. After some intense pondering it became clear that combining a mode of transportation with 'rocking out' just cant be out done. Congratulations Guitar Skateboard!!!! |
