ProCo Sound Announces New RA1 Reamping Box
A great solution for the small studio owner looking to use real amp tone.
Pro Co Sound, Inc., has announced the introduction of the new RA1 Reamping Box to its line of TradeTools Audio Interface Devices.
The Pro Co RA1 Reamping box is designed to take line level play back of a dry recorded track and convert it to guitar level.
This allows the engineer to take the “best take ” of the day, and feed it through various effects pedals and/or amplifiers.
This process is also useful for recreating/adjusting microphone placement for an impending session.
The RA1is built with the highly acclaimed Pro Co MBT-1 Microphone Bridging Transformer. It features a three-way pad circuit for the correct level in each situation.
“This is a great solution for the small environment studio owner who wants to use real amp tone (as apposed to modeling) for the creative process,” commented Les Batts, a product manager at Pro Co.
The RA1 Reamping Box is scheduled for availability beginning in February 2010.

L-ACOUSTICS dV-DOSC Installed In Indonesian Church
The church decided to buy dV-DOSC after finding sound to be very suited to the church environment.
The Bethany Christian denomination church, which has many houses of worship across Indonesia, has installed an L-ACOUSTICS dV-DOSC system into the 4,000 capacity Bethany Manyar church in East Java.
Located in an old building in Manyar Street, Surabaya, the configuration of Bethany Manyar Church required the dV-DOSC system be ground stacked and not flown.
The church’s dV-DOSC system consists of 6 dV- DOSC modular line source cabinets per side, 2 dV-SUB subwoofers per side and 2 SB28 subwoofers per side, powered by five LA8 amplified controllers.
The installation also included a monitor system of 115XT HiQ active stage monitors powered by an LA8 and a distributed system of 12XT coaxials driven by an LA4.
The system was installed by L-ACOUSTICS’ Indonesian representative Tri Tunggal Abadi in just three days, working closely with the church’s engineers.
“The new LA8 and LA4 amplified controllers sound really good; the presets make everything easier and we can make any adjustments using the new contour EQ of the amplified Controller,” says Andre Bonang from Tri Tunggal Abadi.
For the Bethany Church sound department, the installation of L-ACOUSTICS represents the fulfillment of a long-held dream since hearing it in Japan 12 years ago.

Beacon Street Studio Upgrades Facility With The Help Of GC Pro
GC Pro helped Beacon complete system upgrades fast when time was o the essence.
Beacon Street Studios in Venice, California recently acquired new Avid Pro Tools HD3 systems and Apple MacPro computers with the help of Guitar Center Professional (GC Pro).
The outside sales division of Guitar Center the studio find the right gear effectively and efficiently, allowing Beacon Street to keep the focus where it needs to be – on the music.
GC Pro Account Manager Rich Avrach recommended the two new Avid Pro Tools HD3 systems and new Apple MacPro computers that would join the four other Pro Tools systems that Beacon Street had already purchased through GC Pro.
Other gear of the shipping manifest included an Antelope Audio Isochrone OCX-V master clock, a Dangerous Music MONITOR ST-SR, an Avalon VT-747SP, a Grace Design m906 5.1 and ADAM A7 monitors, as well as several Waves Diamond TDM bundles and a number of Sennheiser and Neumann microphones.
This was just some of the gear that GC Pro recommended to enable Beacon Street to increase its productivity.
“The biggest advantage we get from GC Pro is time – time not spent looking through vast amounts of product information, researching prices and time spent holding on the phone,” says John Nau, Composer and Co-Owner of Beacon Street Studios. “Time is one thing we can’t make any more of, and with GC Pro we can use our time for our clients instead of chasing down information about products and technologies.”
Nau also likes the sense of trust that working with GC Pro has engendered: he knows he’ll always get the best prices, have access to full technical support, and be able to tap into a wide range of other services (such as systems and acoustic design) if necessary.
“If we need someone to walk us through some new things, Rich makes sure that we get that kind of support, and without it taking time away from serving our clients,” says Nau. “GC Pro always gets us what we need quickly and efficiently. In this business, it’s all about time, and GC Pro makes sure we can use our time well.”
