ARX Systems Releases Transformer Isolated USB Audio Interface
ARX offers fully transformer balanced I/O on the go.
ARX Systems has introduced the USB I/O, a plug-and-play USB analog audio interface with balanced inputs and outputs.
The USB I/O offers full transformer balanced inputs and outputs, providing isolation to eliminate earth loops and other extraneous.
USB I/O is bus powered, and is plug-and-play compatible, requiring no additional drivers to operate properly on Mac and Windows operating systems.
The front panel of USB I/O has stereo balanced analog XLR inputs and outputs, and the rear panel has a Type B USB connector, a ground lift switch and a status LED.

Pathways Church Chooses Danley Loudspeakers In Upgrade Of Historic Facility
Summit Integrated Systems worked with a strict budget to fill the needs of a contemporary service.
Pathways Church in Denver, Colorado is unique in many ways though surrounded by classic architecture, the church delivers a decidedly contemporary service, complete with a fully-voiced rock band.
Like many houses of worship, the sound system in Pathwas Church was inadequate to amplifying the worship music.
Coverage was spotty, output was weak, and intelligibility was fleeting, especially with the system frequently red-lined.
On a tight budget, Colorado-based Summit Integrated Systems replaced the existing loudspeakers with Danley loudspeakers and subwoofers while making use of the existing amplifiers and processors.
Summit selected four Danley SH-96 full-range loudspeakers to cover the main seating area. Flipped on their sides, the Danley SH-96 provides 90- by 60-degree pattern control that is tight enough to focus its energy fully on the seating area.
This keept the sound off the stage for greater gain before feedback. With overlap in the patterns of adjacent speakers, Summit gave Pathways stereo imaging as a pair of alternating left/right outputs.
Summit Integrated also tucked two Danley TH-115 subwoofers into the stage to complete the package. “Loudspeaker and subwoofer efficiency was paramount in this design,” said Shane Beeson, sales and installation specialist at Summit Integrated Systems.
“We had to rely on Pathway’s existing Yamaha DME24N processor and Yamaha PC4801N and PC9501N amplifiers. Both the Danley SH-96 and TH-115 are markedly more efficient than comparable units from other manufacturers, and that gave us the ability to deliver the high SPLs Pathways was seeking.
He continued, “Pathways is very happy with the new system. The difference between it and the old system was not subtle. As soon as we fired it up, they knew without a doubt that they had gotten their money’s worth. It was a night and day difference.”
“Now they have abundant volume that’s clear and intelligible with stereo imaging on top of it all. We plan to continue working with Pathways so that as the funds become available, we can round things out with rack upgrades and a modest amount of down fills and front fills.”

Spectra Audio Systems Acquires Turbosound Flex Array
The Flex Array system exceeded expectations, earning high praise from event attendees and engineers alike.
Spectra Audio Systems, a St. Louis based event production company specializing in over-the-top electronic music events, has expanded their inventory to include a Turbosound Flex Array system.
Partner Tim Kresko explained the company’s decision to invest in a Turbosound Flex Array system.
“The cost of the system was what sparked our initial interest – it seemed very fairly priced considering its lineage.”
“Of course price alone could never be a deal maker,” he says, “and the choice was sealed by the opinions of the engineers and promoters who were invited to the demo…They all gave Flex Array a big thumbs up.”
Putting up Spectra’s entire Turbosound rig for the first time, systems techs Josh Limpert and Arthur Basil Shaw configured the Flex Array PA each side of the stage with nine deep flown TFA-600HDP tops, and a single stack of five TSW-218DP double 18” folded horn subs on the floor with a further sub for in-fill. System control was provided via BVNet by XTA processors.
Said Kresko,“The system really tamed this notoriously live space. We chose Flex Array mainly for stealth,” he explains. “It’s very convenient – no matter what the required configuration is, it’s throw and go. The boxes sound fantastic and have plenty of gas.”
“All the clients, artists, and guest engineers have raved about the quality of this rig, and they include everyone from national and international bands to hip hop artists, DJs, and talking heads. So my question is: ‘why not?’ This Turbosound system has upped our standing in our market, and we have absolutely no regrets with the self-powered choice. Our current clients are all happy to pay more to hire this rig, and it has opened previously closed doors for us.”
Kresko feels that the Flex Array sounded more cohesive than other line array and point-source systems that he has previously used. “Usually, an hour or so of tuning is required” he says, “but this time it was GO straight out of the box – we didn’t touch any EQ anywhere. It was too easy.”
Stage manager extraordinaire and audiophile Joe Grasso (who favors a certain brand of US-made PA) echoes Kresko’s feelings: “I kept looking for something to complain about, and just couldn’t find anything!”
Kresko concluded, stating, “This system has been a home run for us. It was obviously extremely well thought out, which cuts down our time and stress from load in to load out – and it really does live up to its name. There are so many possible configurations that no venue has been a challenge, no matter what the obstacle. We love it.”

Vancouver Film School Gives Students Portable Surround Mixing Capabilities With Neyrinck Mix 51
Mix 51 allow students to work with surround audio outside of class, helping students become competitive professionals.
Canadian post-secondary entertainment arts institution, the Vancouver Film School, has integrated Neyrinck Mix 51 software into their Sound Design for Visual Media program.
Each student is supplied with a Pro Tools LE notebook system with the Mix 51 plug-in installed.
This allows every student to edit and mix surround audio with their portable Pro Tools LE system prior to coming in to the school’s main Pro Tools HD studio.
VFS Sound Design for Visual Media Senior Instructor Shane Rees says, “Mix 51 lets our students work with surround audio outside of class and without needing to reserve time in our main studio.”
“Mix 51 provides a stereo LtRt down mix, so they can monitor with a pair of headphones or at their home with a Pro Logic decoding system.
“It is tremendously beneficial for them to work in surround anywhere. This substantially improves the students’ knowledge and skill in surround audio.”
Paul Neyrinck, founder and president of Neyrinck adds, “Surround audio post-production is exploding worldwide as HD broadcast takes hold. It is very important to train sound designers about surround.”
“VFS is a premier education facility that focuses on preparing their students for real-world careers in audio production. And I am glad they are really working on making their students competitive professionals. We could not be happier that they have chosen Mix 51 which is a great solution for audio schools.”
