Bio: Dr. William Moylan
Dr. William Moylan is currently Chairperson of the Department of Music and Coordinator of Sound Recording Technology at the University of Massachusetts Lowell. Under his leadership, the recording program at U Mass Lowell has become one of the strongest in the nation and has gained a significant international presence and reputation. An active recording engineer since 1977, and a producer since 1982, Moylan has worked with artists across the full spectrum of jazz, popular and classical genres. As a composer, he has written works encompassing a variety of styles and media, including orchestra, chorus, chamber ensembles (vocal and instrumental) as well as electronic and computer music. He is noted for his research on how people perceive recorded sound, and how recording media can be used as a vehicle for creative expression. Moylan is active in NARAS (National Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences), AES (Audio Engineering Society) and SPARS (Society of Professional Audio Recording Services).
