Alcons Sentinel12

The “engine” behind every Alcons system is the Amplified Loudspeaker Controller. The ALC Sentinel12 is proprietary designed and developed by Alcons Audio and features a powerful 4-channel DSP-based controller with full ClassD amplifier stages onboard. Main focus in the development of the Sentinel range was to obtain an “audiophile-grade” signal path and a surplus of headroom under any circumstance, to get the absolute maximum performance out of the Alcons pro-ribbon sound systems.

Featuring a 400MHz Analog Devices SHARC™ DSP processor with patent-pending Class D amplifier stages, the Sentinel12 is a 2u rackmount unit with 4-in / 4-out full matrix routing, 192kHz capable AES/EBU inputs, audiophile-grade amplifier stages (with industries lowest THD rating), custom-designed sample-rate conversion, remote-selectable input sensitivity, all-digital signal control and processing. DSP features include a six band parametric per channel, delay and factory presets for all Alcons systems and configurations. Control takes place through the 4.3” diagonal, full-colour TFT touch-screen, the multi-colour LED illuminated encoder and through ALCONTROL™ network. The unit is optionally AVB™ and Dante™ prepared.

The amplifier stages and redundant power supply feature a number of microcontrollers, allowing internal (amp) and external (speaker) parameters to be monitored and guided via the internal I2C communication network. This means maximum operating efficiency and full status/application logging can be maintained at all times, while a Signal Integrity Sensing™ (SIS) circuit dynamically compensates impedance effects in speaker cables and connectors, resulting in a tight sub and bass response (system damping factor of 10.000).
