Compatible with both CobraNet or EtherSound protocols, the Whirlwind E Snake system consists of E-Snake Frames (ESF), E-Snake 2 units (ES2) and E-Snake Control software. Each frame/unit consists of a hardware frame and motherboard that can be configured with I/O cards that can process up to eight channels of audio. An ESF is capable of simultaneously processing up to 32 inputs and 32 outputs. Multiple frames can be used with Gigabit switches to increase the capacity as required. The smaller (2RU) ES2 can process up to 16 inputs, 16 outputs or eight of each and can also be used as a standalone system.
Connection is via a 100 MB Ethernet switch with CAT 5 (or fiber optics for longer distances) and both can be used. Control is via the supplied proprietary E-Snake Control software, which provides control of input features, full system backup and show setting recall. Interface cables for control via Yamaha digital boards are also available. (http://www.whirlwindusa.com)
