The Mongoose is a microwave digital snake system offering up to 64 channels of digital audio from stage to FOH and up to 32 channels back to the stage. Operating in the license-free microwave “quiet zone” above 10 GHz with an FCC cleared RF Power output of up to 2 watts (EIRP), the company state this band offers wider bandwidth, and thus a full dynamic range - without FM modulation, compression or companding – with sub millisecond latencies.
The system utilizes dual 12-inch diameter antennae, coupled to PCM4202 A/D transmitters and PCM4104 D/A receivers via Ethernet CAT 5e cables. The breakout hardware is available in 16-channel modular 1RU units with analog line level inputs and outputs and mic level inputs (with remote controlled mic pre-amps). Sampling frequencies up 96 kHz are supported with bit depth of 24-bit. Future digital interface options will include AES-EBU, MADI, and long distance CAT 6 due later this year.
