Sound Image, Others Adopt JBL VERTEC Line Array System

NORTHRIDGE, CA - A growing number of the country's experienced, high-profile sound system providers are choosing the VERTEC line array system from JBL. Some of the USA's leading companies have recently adopted the system into their rental inventories, using JBL's powerful, lightweight VT4889 line array elements under a variety of conditions.

Sound Image, one of the world's leading touring concert sound companies, took delivery of their first VERTEC system in October 2001. Well-known for providing audio services for artists like Jimmy Buffett, Brooks & Dunn, Vince Gill, and Melissa Etheridge, Sound Image's initial use of their VERTEC was on popular R&B artist Brian McKnight's recent North American tour.

"Compared to other available line arrays, JBL's VERTEC is lighter weight. It's more powerful. It goes together easier. It sounds better. It's the obvious choice," noted Dave Shadoan, President of Sound Image.

Richter Scale Productions, one of the Rocky Mountain region's leading rental sound firms, also recently took delivery of a new VERTEC system. The Englewood, Colorado company serves a variety of corporate, civic and entertainment industry clients. The company's new system is being used for the Olympic Torch Relay Tour, a 63-day, 120-event nationwide series running from December 2001 through February 2002.

"We researched line arrays and found VERTEC to be the best one out there. VERTEC sounds spectacular. You just take the cover off, set the angles, and you're ready to go," said Harold Richter, owner of Richter Scale Productions.

When Blair Simmons, owner of Off-The-Wall Sound Co. Inc. in North Miami Beach, was looking for a line array, he wanted the best sound he could get. "We feel that VERTEC is sonically superior to the other line array boxes we have heard. Size and weight, along with the higher SPL output, better coverage and better low-end were also deciding factors," explained Simmons.

"We have gotten great customer support from JBL and feel that, in itself, was reason enough to purchase VERTEC." Off-The-Wall Sound's VERTEC system recently handled "The Last Damn Show 3" Stadium event in Tampa with Lil' Mo, Afro Man, OutKast, Digital Underground, and Ludachris. Off-The-Wall Sound also used the system at Mars Music Amphitheater in West Palm Beach for Stained, Disturbed, Lit, Static X, and Drowning Pool performing for 25,000 attendees.

"We're very gratified to see VERTEC being accepted by discriminating companies such as these," offered David Scheirman, Director of Tour Sound for JBL Professional. "These guys are some of the most successful businessmen in the industry. They choose their investments carefully. We know the challenges they face in today's market, and we are honored to be selected as their vendor of choice. We're also very pleased to see this system appearing now as a first-call selection on a growing number of tour riders."
