With his typical flair for the improbable,
Sound Image President Dave Shadoan was married in a Las Vegas drive
through wedding chapel. (Sound Image is a leading sound reinforcement
and installation company located in Escondido, CA.)
Dave truly sweated it out along with the bride and guests in the
sweltering heat that rose above 108 degrees. The venue was the historic
Little White Wedding Chapel on Las Vegas Blvd. that has hosted many
celebrity marriages.

After appropriately arriving in separate limos Dave and his bride Linda
Kahaunaela-Perez proceeded to exchange vows in a fancy restored Cadillac
bearing tribute to the King. An Elvis impersonator (or was it the King?)
sang and flirted with the bride and assorted guests. In true fashion Dave’s
cell phone rang during the marriage ceremony and he instinctively answered
it, bringing howls of laughter from all those in attendance.

With the president of such a prestigious
sound company getting married one would have thought that the PA
system would standout and it did. The cheesy boombox produced massive
distortion and little SPL. It was what one might expect when the
audio guy is dressed as Elvis!
Noted speaker designers Mark Engebretson and Mike Adams refused
to take credit for the system’s design. The Little White Chapel’s
standard Bose system produced no highs nor lows.
Afterwards the gaggle of guests raced for the air-conditioned pub
in a downtown hotel where the drinks and conversation flowed freely.
