It is a small startup sound company, providing sound systems to smaller venues. Cameron Professional Audio is headed up by Greg Cameron. It began out of a desire to provide sound for bands & clubs in the Southern California area, that needed something better then what most small clubs systems in the area have installed. Very few small clubs in Los Angeles have decent sound systems, except for the best known venues such as the Whiskey or Roxy. I really want bands to sound like theyre supposed to sound, says Cameron.

Cameron got his early experience with live sound in the mid 80s while he was on tour with the band Swa, formerly on Black Flags record label, SST. Back during the Black Flag tour of 85, everyone involved with SST had very little or no money. During the tour, everyone had to pitch in to load in & out, set up the PA, and play your instrument if you were in a band. Ive always loved electronics and sound since I was very young. I was purchasing and installing home and car stereos for my family and friends by the time is was 11. I was also working on cars too!
When I hit the road in 85 with my band and Black Flag, Rat Sound came with us. We were more like a family then just a tour crew. I was thrilled to be able to help. I had engineered in recording studios, but it got old quick. I love the energy of live sound. When we returned from tour, I worked for Rat for a little while. But they had little money and couldnt afford to pay me enough to really make a living at the time. So, I went and got a regular day job selling home audio and video gear.
Since that time, Camerons other electronic hobbies such as computers and video evolved into jobs that dealt with broadcast television editing and feature film. His current day job is chief engineer at a company that provides primarily Avid editing systems to television and feature film clients, as well as other services. Although I love what Im doing, my first loves are playing drums and live sound. After not doing live sound for so long, I really missed it. So, I decided to start Cameron Professional Audio after my girlfriend asked me what I was waiting for.
After purchasing enough gear to build a system, Cameron launched the company. I forgot how expensive this stuff really is. Its a lot of work too, but its really worth it to me. Camerons basic setup is off the shelf gear by companies like Allen & Heath, Mackie, Audix, etc. But the subs enclosures are made by Rat Sound. I have never heard any systems that sound better then, or as good as a Rat system. If I could have afforded an all Rat system, I would have bought just that. I plan to upgrade all my cabinets to Rat Trap 5s as the company grows and gets a little income. I know its more difficult to rent a proprietary system, but good sound is more important to me. I think that the bands and clubs I will work with will agree.
