DAVE RAT!
Dave Rat is not known to the concertgoers who enjoy his mixes for the Red Hot Chili Peppers. The kids who bought tickets to see Rage Against The Machine neither knew nor cared that Rat Sound supplied the system that brought those jams to them loud and clear. Beck fans, Cake fans, Sonic Youth slackers, Ben Harper's legions, what do they care?

But the FOH and monitor mixers and the tour managers care. With his partners Brian Benjamin, Tommy Dubielak, Karrie Keyes and Jon Monson, Rat Sound spent many years establishing a reputation for reliable rigs that thundered and shouted and brought it back to the players like few others.
Dave himself has graciously consented to share some tips from time to time with PSW visitors, and we are calling this "Transmissions From Dave Rat." Because they will occur whether he is jetting to Las Vegas to mix the Bangles, or chasing new visions of house and monitor boxes at his sunny warehouse near the California Coast.
What makes Señor Raton all the more exceptional is the fact that he does not need to feel large by sneering at those of us who are several levels behind him in terms of electronic and acoustics knowledge and theory. Dave is an excellent teacher and we are lucky to have him.
