Sound Physics Labs Introduces Contractor’s Cube
Sound Physics Labs Inc (SPL), parent company of ServoDrive, has introduced the SPL-C3 Contractor Cube loudspeaker.
Designed by Tom Danley, the SPL-3C offers “time correct, point-source performance from a compact, affordably priced cabinet” according to SPL. The enclosure, measuring 19-in x 19-in x 21.5-in and weighing 105 pounds, houses two 10-in low-frequency drivers, four 5-in mid-frequency drivers and single 1-in high-frequency driver.

SPL says that by mounting the low frequency drivers on both sides of the cube and reserving the front face for the single collected output of the remaining drivers results in the "point source" characteristic that makes multiple units easy to stack with "time correct" response. |
Frequency response is 45Hz 18kHz, and coverage pattern is 60 degrees by 60 degrees. No other performance specifications were provided by SPL.
Both passive and two-way active models are available. The cabinet is made of 13-ply Baltic Birch covered with a black catalyzed texture coat.
