New SoundFactor Live Sound Loudspeakers

JBL Professional has introduced SoundFactor loudspeakers, consisting of three models:

The SF15 is a 15-in two-way front-of-house speaker with 1,000 watts peak power capacity.

The SF25 dual 15-in two-way model with the lower woofer rolled off at a lower frequency than the upper woofer. The goal is improvement in mid-range performance.

The SF12M 12-in two-way stage monitor.

SoundFactor uses new JBL crossover technology, including an advanced network topology and heavy gauge wire used for inductors to prevent distortion due to coil saturation is minimized. The crossover also include’s JBL’s SonicGuard high-frequency driver protection. SoundFactor is also the first product to use JBL's Progressive Transition Waveguide design, addressing controlled coverage, lower distortion and frequency response.

All three SoundFactor models are constructed of carpet-covered, 3/4-in MDF - a material the company says is structurally and acoustically superior to the particleboard used by many competitive products. All-metal handles and an 18 gauge, full metal grille are also used.

JBL notes that SoundFactor designs have all passed the same 100-hour, full rated-power torture test that JBL high-end touring systems must survive. SoundFactor models will enter production beginning in February of 2002.
