Network Control For QSC DSP-3

At NSCA, QSC demonstrated network control of the new DSP-3 Digital Signal Processor. Availability is scheduled for late spring 2001.

Users can now configure and monitor DSP-3 processors through a QSC QSControl audio network system. (QSControl provides remote management of QSC amplifiers or other networked audio devices over an Ethernet-based system.)

The DSP-3 is a compact digital signal processing solution that eliminates the need for expensive outboard processing gear and frees up valuable rack space. It offers two channels of independent digital signal processing - including crossover filters, shelf filters, signal delay, compression, peak limiting, parametric filters - in a compact module that attaches to the back of most DataPort-equipped amplifiers, including the PowerLight 2 Series for live sound/portable applications.

Configuration is made simple with a user-friendly "drag-and-drop" software application. Users can access a DSP "toolbox" with icons and simple drawing tools to configure processing functions and signal flow. The software package also offers real-time control and set-and-forget convenience, as configurations can be saved and recalled for future use. The DSP-3 can also be programmed via a RS-232 serial port for added simplicity.
