New Neutrik NL4FX Series Amp Connection System

NEUTRIK’s new Speakon NL4FX series connector delivers 50 Amps (rms) continuous current on all contacts for audio applications. This means the connector is capable of carrying the current load from amplifiers of over 1,000 Watts that are used in professional sound and monitoring systems and is not to be used as a ‘mains’ power connector.

Another unique design element is that electrical contact is made only after the NL4FX is completely inserted and locked. This feature prevents arcing when disconnected under load.

The new cable connector is streamlined, consisting of only three parts. This saves valuable time during assembly and the one-piece internal chuck accepts cables with outer diameters of 6 to 14 mm (0.24” to 0.55”). A right angle version—NL4FRX will be available.

The right angle version will address connections in tight spaces without lengthy re-wiring or carrying multiple wires with different connector ends. Customers will have the ability to convert an NL4FX to an NL4FRX by use of the LRX conversion kit. This easy ‘quick-change’ option allows the user to make an NL4FX into an NL4FRX without disconnecting the existing NL4FX or having to do any additional wiring or soldering.

Termination is fast and easy either with screw terminals or by soldering. The inserts accept stranded 6 mm/10 AWG wire. Once the connector is assembled the NL4FX features the same twist locking system on the current NL4FC, which insures solid connections between amplifier and speaker. This highly-reliable design prevents potential damage to amplifier output stages.

The NL4FX can be ordered with boots in any of five colors (black, red, yellow, green and white) for instant identification. The right angle NL4FRX has the same color-coding options by use of a colored collar.

Additionally, the NL4FX is compatible with all the current NL4M* receptacles and the new NL4MMX adapter. The new adapter twist double locks on one end to convert a standard ‘female to female’ cable into a ‘female-male’ cable. Featuring a new secure double locking mechanism, there is no danger of the adapter getting disconnected during extended cable runs.
