New Additions To JBL's MPro Series
JBL MPro 200 and 400 Series loudspeakers, introduced in March, now offer two new models, respectively.
MPro Series speakers are for live, portable, small-to-medium install and DJ applications and are designed to work well with other MPro Series models in the creation of flexible, full-range systems.

Introduced in March, the new MPro MP215 two-way speaker and MP255S dual 15" subwoofer are now available at authorized JBL Professional retailers. The MPro 200 Series is now expanding, as two new models, the MP212 and MP225, were introduced at the company's Northridge headquarters. These two models round out the MPro 200 Series speaker line.
Both models will be available early summer, 2001.

"The MP200 Series speakers are aimed at the working musicians and DJs who require the best possible sound and durability in affordable speakers," stated Gerry Tschetter, Director MI Marketing for JBL Professional. "With these two new models, the 200 Series features three full range speakers, one of which can also be used for vocal monitoring, and an innovative subwoofer."
MPro 200 Series speakers feature tough carpet covering over an 18 mm plywood enclosure, and heavy-duty steel handles and grille for durability. All two-way systems feature JBL Professional's exclusive Laminar Flow Baffle, a design that integrates horn, woofer mounting and ports into a one-piece, molded part. The Laminar Flow Baffle permits audible improvements in several areas of speaker performance including lowered distortion, uniform coverage and more linear frequency response.
The MP212 is a compact, portable, twelve-inch speaker system in a multi-angle enclosure that is equally at home in main PA or stage monitor applications. As with all MPro full range speakers, the 250-watt (continuous) MP212 features SonicGuardtm, which protects the high-frequency driver from excess power without interrupting the performance. An internal, precision-engineered crossover assures optimal power response and performance in the critical mid-range region. Designed for portable applications in live performance, music playback, and reinforcement of speech, the MP212 will deliver excellent performance by itself or as a satellite over the MP255S subwoofer (using the 35 mm pole mount receptacle). The truncated trapezoidal shape also allows the MP212 to function as a slant vocal or instrument monitor.
"We have incorporated the same network topology that we have used in some of our more successful dual woofer designs," said Phillip Manor, Product Manager for Portable Products. "By giving each woofer a unique low-pass rolloff, we can produce a much smoother midrange transition between the low frequency and high frequency elements while retaining the strong low frequency output that is the primary appeal of a two-way, dual woofer design."
The large-mouth horn 70° x 70° design of the MP225 delivers smooth, natural reproduction - especially in the critical mid-range. The MP225's input panel includes a Neutrik® Speakon® NL-4 input and a 1/4" phone jack for flexible connectivity.

JBL MPro 412 |

The MP412 offers a 12-in woofer with LF performance down to 50Hz, while the MP415 has a 15-in woofer and LF performance to 44Hz. The MP412 has an ARD (Annular Ring Diaphragm) compression driver that enhances high-frequency extension, combining very high motor strength with low moving mass.
The new MP212 is a portable two-way speaker system with a 12-in woofer and high frequency horn with 1-in titanium-diaphragm compression driver. It too comes in a multi-angle cabinet.

The new MP412 and MP415 are two-way, 350W loudspeakers in a multi-angle cabinet that allows them to be used for stage monitor as well as main system applications.
The new MP225 includes dual 15-in woofers and as well as a titanium diaphragm compression drive. A 500W system, its crossover network employs separate low-pass filters for each of the two woofers. The lower woofer is rolled off at a lower frequency than is the upper woofer. This reduces mid-range phase anomalies while retaining the strong low-frequency output that is the primary appeal of a dual woofer system. The MP225's compression driver also includes a titanium diaphragm.
MPro speakers are built with top quality 18 mm plywood, steel hardware for handles and grills, and Neutrik SpeakON connectors. All two-way systems employ the Laminar Flow Baffle® - a single-piece, rugged, thermo-plastic baffle designed with smooth, rounded surfaces to reduce distortion and diffraction effects.
All of the new models have a 70-degrees by 70-degrees MF/HF horn design. SonicGuard protects the high-frequency driver from excess power without interrupting the performance. JBL's exclusive DuraFlex coating is applied to the cabinets to maintain beauty and durability.
