JBL's New MPro Line; One Model Features Integrated Crown Amp

JBL has introduced MPro 200 and MPro 400 Series loudspeakers and subwoofers. One of the new models, the MP418SP is a subwoofer with an integrated power amplifier with signal processing developed and built by Crown Audio. This is the first product introduced that was developed cooperatively by JBL Professional and Crown Audio.

Each MPro speaker (except subwoofers) features a tough SMC Laminar Flow Baffle, a single-piece that integrates horn, ports, baffle and woofer mounting. The smooth, rounded contours of the baffle and seamless one-piece structure reduce turbulence and diffraction effects for reduced distortion. SMC is sheet molding compound technology used extensively in the automotive industry that allows for rigidity and maximum acoustic performance. All cabinets are made of 18mm plywood using tongue and groove construction techniques.

High-frequency components are protected by JBL's exclusive SonicGuard, which offers protection without changing the sound or interrupting the performance. Roadworthiness is assured through the use of heavy-duty steel handles, 16 gauge-steel hexagonally-perforated grilles and quality professional coverings. For versatility and ease of set up, all MPro speakers have pole-mount receptacles and the MP255S subwoofer is shipped with a pole included for this purpose.

Initial MPro 200 Series offerings are:
MPro MP215. 15-in Two-Way Speaker System.
MPro MP255S. Dual 15-in Subwoofer in a dual-tuned, band-pass enclosure.

All MPro 200 Series speakers have carpet-covered cabinets for keeping their new look and to aid in loading in and out of trucks and cars. Titanium diaphragms and ferro-fluid cooling provide extended high frequencies and high power handling in the 1-in JBL compression drivers. Large 70-degrees x 70-degrees horns provide excellent performance in the critical mid-range as well as dispersion control.

The first MPro Series 400 models are:
MPro MP410 10-in Two-Way Speaker System. Compact speaker system for use by itself or with subwoofers.
MPro MP418S. Single 18-in, compact bass-reflex subwoofer.
MPro MP418SP. Powered single 18-Inch subwoofer in bass-reflex cabinet with Crown amplification.
