And, IRP demonstrated irp.net, a modular matrix system that has virtually unlimited expandability. The input and output PC boards can be combined and configured to form either a local network or multiple networks. The system consists of three PC boards that are mounted into a 2-RU mainframe that is supplied with an integral power supply. A maximum of 64 boards can be incorporated into any one single network.

Due to the fact that the input and output boards can be installed separately in locally divided mainframes, the matrix, audio processing and cable distribution can be combined into larger distributed networks. For relatively short inter-connections between the PC boards CAT-5 cable is employed; for longer distances fiber optical cable must be used.
