DAS Compact 1: Full Range, Powered Loudspeaker System

New from DAS Audio is the bi-amplified, three-way Compact 1 full-range loudspeaker, which operates as a full-range system in its own right or as a mid/high component in combination with a subwoofer.

The Compact 1 includes a 1000-watt integral Class D amplifier, providing 500W to the 15-in low-frequency driver and 500W to the mid/high section. HF includes a 1-inch-exit compression driver with 2-in titanium diaphragm coupled to a constant directivity horn, while the midrange is handled by a 6-in cone driver.

DAS specifications quote the Compact 1 as producing a maximum SPL of 133dB (1m) and offering a usable on-axis frequency response down to 40Hz. The trapezoidal enclosure is manufactured from Wisa Birch plywood and is finished with a durable catalyzed polyurethane paint. The steel grille is covered by flame-retardant fabric that provides protection from dust and dirt.

The Compact 1 measures 39.6-in x 20.4-in x 16.5-in and weighs 114.5 lbs. It can be seen at the upcoming AES Convention in New York.
