Community Debuts Two New WET Series Loudspeakers

As the latest additions to Community's WET Series, the new WET218 and WET228 are designed to provide voice and full-range music reproduction in applications demanding the utmost in weather-resistance performance.

Well-suited for theme parks, swimming pools, stadiums, and cruise ships, both models have been engineered to withstand soaking conditions through the use of all-fiberglass enclosures, stainless steel hardware, and driver diaphragms made from materials impervious to the elements.

A two-way device operable at eight ohms between 70 Hz and 18 kHz, the WET218 has a maximum output rated at 113 dB SPL/120 dB SPL (peak), and a sensitivity of 92 dB SPL at one watt/one meter. At the low-end, an eight-inch, Ferrofluid-cooled, carbon fiber woofer manages input up to 2 kHz, at which point a horn-loaded, one-inch compression driver with a non-metallic polyamide diaphragm takes over.

In a horizontal mounting position, the loudspeaker's nominal beamwidth measures 90 degrees horizontally by 50 degrees vertically. Compact at only 9.13 inches high and 15.6 inches wide, the loudspeaker tips the scales at 21 pounds.

Quasi three-way in configuration, the WET228 houses a pair of eight-inch carbon fiber low frequency and low-mid elements, and a coaxially-mounted high frequency driver outfitted with a polyamide diaphragm. With a frequency response of 60 Hz to 16 kHz, the unit is safeguarded by Community's PowerSenseä DDP protective circuitry.

Capable of projecting a beamwidth measuring 75 degrees both vertically and horizontally, the WET228 has a nominal impedance of four ohms, a maximum output of 119 dB SPL/ 126 dB SPL (peak), and sensitivity rated at 95 dB SPL at one watt/one meter. Weighing 30 pounds, its enclosure stands 20 inches high, and measures 10 inches wide.

The WET218 and WET228 are constructed using a hand-laminated fiberglass faceplate. Finished with a glossy black gel-coat, both models additionally sport three-layer Weather-Stopä grilles, and are outfitted with rigging provisions and stainless steel mounting accessories.

The suggested retail price of Community's WET218 is $832 USD, while the WET228 lists for $997. Both are now shipping and available from authorized Community dealers.
