New Engineered Sound Mic Line From A-T

Audio-Technica www.audiotechnica.com has debuted the Engineered Sound (ES) lines of microphones and wireless microphone systems. ES wired microphones have a low-profile design with the added versatility of interchangeable elements for a variety of pickup patterns. A wide range of ES models is available, including gooseneck, hanging, boundary, lavalier and handheld mics that combine premium sound quality with consistent, dependable performance. In addition, a complete line of accessories is available, including new dual-stage windscreens, shock-mounts, mic hangers, clothing clips and mounting adapters.

Engineered Sound microphones also offer a choice of polar patterns. The gooseneck and hanging models are offered in cardioid, hypercardioid and MicroLine versions, while the lavalier is offered in cardioid and omnidirectional. All elements, including an additional subcardioid element, are available separately.

The new Engineered Sound line includes the following models:
ES915 Adjustable-length Gooseneck Microphone
ES917S Long Gooseneck Microphone with lighting on/off switch
ES935 Short Gooseneck Microphone
ES935S Short Gooseneck Microphone with lighting on/off switch
ES933 Hanging Microphone with in-line power module
ES933W White Hanging Microphone with in-line power module
ES933PM Hanging Microphone with wall/ceiling-plate power module
ES933PMW White Hanging Microphone with wall/ceiling-plate power module
ES943 Lavalier Microphone
ES961 Boundary Microphone

ES961P Boundary Microphone with 1/4-inch plug
ES973 Handheld Condenser Microphone

Engineered Sound wireless systems offer True Diversity operation, 100 switch-selectable PLL-synthesized UHF frequencies, and Tone Lock. tone squelch. ES wireless systems are available as separate components, with two receivers and two transmitters to choose from.

One hundred frequencies in the UHF TV Channel 57-59 bands (728-741 MHz) are easily selected by pushbutton, and up to twelve channels may be used simultaneously in multichannel applications. All Engineered Sound wireless units feature a sophisticated Tone Lock tone squelch system that opens the receiver’s audio circuits only when an Engineered Sound transmitter is detected, greatly reducing the possibility of interference and eliminating the need for a user-adjustable squelch control.

ES receivers include ESW-R220 dual receiver and ESW-R210 single receiver. The ESW-220 offers two independent receivers (each with 100 PLL-synthesized UHF frequencies) in a rugged, shielded, metal housing, along with an antenna distribution system. The integral antenna combiner/divider distribution system provides two pairs of antenna inputs and two pairs of antenna outputs.

The additional inputs might be used when coverage of a split banquet/meeting room is difficult with a single pair of antennas, or when considerable multi-path interference is present. The antenna output jacks are provided to feed other wireless receivers operating in the same frequency band. By adding two more ESW-R220 dual receiver units, six receiver channels can be operated from a single pair of antennas, and in rack space only 3U (5-1/4”) high. However, any type of receiver in the same band, or even a separate active antenna divider, may be fed by the antenna outputs.

The ESW-R220 also provides +12V DC on the antenna input jacks to power in-line RF devices. Two audio outputs for each of the receivers are included: XLRM-type balanced (4 mV) and 1/4” unbalanced (40 mV). The two isolated audio outputs permit simultaneous feeds to both unbalanced and balanced inputs — e.g., each receiver can drive both a tape recorder and a mixer. A headphone jack with level control on the front panel provides convenient monitoring of each receiver’s audio output. The ESW-R220 has an auto-adjusting power supply that permits its use with any AC power source 120-240V, 50/60 Hz worldwide. The ESW-R220 may be used as a stand-alone unit or, with the included rack-mount adapters, it may be installed in a standard 19-in electronic equipment rack.

The ESW-R210 receiver also offers 100 PLL-synthesized UHF frequencies, Tone Lock tone squelch and True Diversity reception with two antennas feeding two completely independent RF sections (tuners). Automatic logic circuitry continuously compares and selects the superior (stronger) received signal, providing more reliable reception, thereby reducing dropouts with higher sound quality.

The ESW-R210 provides +12V DC on the antenna jacks to power in-line RF devices, and has two audio outputs on the back panel: XLRM-type balanced (4 mV) and 1/4-in unbalanced (40 mV). The two isolated audio outputs permit simultaneous feeds to both unbalanced and balanced inputs.

A headphone jack with level control on the receiver’s front panel provides convenient monitoring of audio output if desired. The ESW-R210 receiver has an auto-adjusting power supply (120-240V, 50/60 Hz) and features all-metal construction for strength, durability and enhanced shielding from extraneous noise. The ESW-R210 may be used in the open; or, with the included rack-mount adapters, it may be installed in a standard 19-in electronic equipment rack.

Two ES transmitters are available: The ESW-T211 UHF synthesized UniPak™ body-pack transmitter and ESW-T214 UHF synthesized handheld microphone/transmitter. Both units interface with either ES receiver.

The ESW-T211 UniPak body-pack transmitter includes standard operational controls and features including an on-off switch and three-color battery condition indicator. Frequency switches and other setup controls are hidden or recessed to reduce the possibility of unintended mis-adjustment. In addition, a premium “locking” type audio input connector provides for secure operation.

The ESW-T211 UniPak transmitter accepts microphone-level and instrument-level inputs, and provides the voltage needed to operate electret condenser mics. A variety of Wireless Essentials™ accessory microphones and cables – including clip-on, headworn, boundary and gooseneck mics – are pre-wired to match the transmitter’s input. A recessed high-pass switch on the ESW-T211 permits the rolling off of low frequencies from the microphone, if desired.

The ESW-T211 is powered by two easily installed 1.5V AA batteries that provide 12-14 hours of operation depending on battery type and use pattern. The combination of excellent performance, light yet robust construction and ease of use makes the ESW-T211 an ideal body-pack transmitter for speakers, instrumentalists and others who need or prefer a “wearable” transmitter.

The ESW-T214 handheld microphone/transmitter is an ideal “handheld” microphone/ transmitter, whether held in the hand or mounted on a microphone stand. It integrates a specially designed, unidirectional, dynamic microphone element for critical music and voice applications. Careful ergonomic design results in a unit with excellent balance and feel, plus its sound quality rivals that of wired microphones.

Standard operational controls and features – the on-off switch and three-color battery condition indicator – are located in plain view and easily understood by any user. Frequency switches and other setup controls are hidden under the body cover to reduce the possibility of unintended mis-adjustment.

The ESW-T214 is powered by two easily installed 1.5V AA batteries that provide 16-18 hours of operation depending on battery type and use pattern.
