Symetrix Showcases The 460 Presentation Audio Mixer At Infocomm

LYNNWOOD, WASHINGTON: In response to the dearth of truly functional audio mixers designed for boardrooms, classrooms, and training facilities, Symetrix designed the 460 Presentation Audio Mixer. "In smaller presentation systems, installers have traditionally and begrudgingly relied on a combination of router/switchers, VCA control cards, and other units to get the feature set required for a given job," observed Steve Kawasaki, Vice President-Business Development. "The 460 replaces this hodgepodge of gear with one unit that can process speech separately from audio, combine multiple audio sources, and provide remote-control compatibility with Panja or Crestron controllers."

The DSP-based 460 audio mixer uses easy to navigate, front-panel menus to configure dynamics processing, mixing, routing, and level settings. Users access eight programmable presets via front-panel menu selection, rear-panel contact closures, or serial data links. The 460's multiple remote control options allow installations of varying complexity and budget levels to match their remote control needs. Rear panel EIA-232 and EIA-485 ports allow Panja or Crestron controllers to select presets and change levels and routing, and contact closure inputs permit remote selection of presets. Additional Euroblock inputs provide rotary pot level controls.

The 460 Presentation Audio Mixer houses impressive routing and processing firepower. Two mic/line inputs and four dedicated line inputs mix to two stereo (or four mono) outputs, and pairs of inputs are "linkable" for stereo operation. Each input channel features 6 dB/octave low pass and high pass filters, plus selectable downward expansion with threshold adjustment. Each output boasts dynamics and equalization. Dynamics processing includes AGC (automatic gain control), limiting, or compression. Equalization processing includes 6 dB/octave shelving filters with a boost/cut range of +/-12 dB and parametric equalizers with a +/-12 dB boost/cut range, 16 - 20k frequency range, and a bandwidth adjustable between 0.05 and 3 octaves.
