Polycom Acquires ASPI Digital
Move Helps Polycom Expand Custom-Room Solutions
Polycom (NASDAQ:
PLCM) just announced that it has acquired Atlanta-based Atlanta
Signal Processors, Inc. (ASPI Digital), a leading manufacturer
of products for the installed voice systems market.
The acquisition will add to Polycom's existing table-top voice
solutions to include custom-room environments and large conference
areas.
"The acquisition of ASPI Digital enables Polycom to now offer
a complete solution for custom-room environments, integrating industry-leading
voice and video systems," says Bob Hagerty, chairman and CEO
of Polycom. "We plan to leverage the strong technology synergies
between our high-end video communications products and ASPI's high-quality
installed room voice systems to provide an ideal solution for applications
such corporate board rooms, executive centers and distance learning
environments."
ASPI Digital provides a range of voice products for the installed
voice and video conferencing markets. These products incorporate
technologies such as noise cancellation, multi-channel acoustic
echo cancellation and automatic microphone mixing for larger conferencing
applications that will complement Polycom's Acoustic Clarity Technology.
The addition of installed-room voice systems completes Polycom's
end-to-end solution for custom-room environments, which include
voice and video systems, directories, call processing, multipoint
control, network and protocol gateways, and management systems.
Polycom offers an application programming interface (API) for its
stand-alone and rack-mounted video endpoints that give integrators
added flexibility and reliability in building custom systems.
