Meyer Loudspeakers At Les Paul’s Jazz Club

Electric guitar legend and inventor Les Paul just specified a new loudspeaker system to be installed at his new business address, The Iridium Jazz Club.

Named New York's “Best Jazz Club” by NY Magazine, recently changed it's address, relocating to 1650 Broadway. When considering the move from the old location, owner Ron Sturm wanted the new local to be among the best live music experiences available anywhere.

Attention was paid to every aspect of the new facility, including lighting, acoustics, and interior design to create an environment that was conducive to not only listening but performing as well. Part of that brief meant upgrading the sound system.

The old facility had some Meyer self-powered loudspeakers, and in the new move, the decision to go exclusively Meyer was made. The Meyer products were retained from the old facility and Carl Ferruggia of SI Tech, who was responsible for system and acoustic design and John Monitto of Meyer Sound determined what additional loudspeakers were required.

The new system consists of single CQ-1 Wide Coverage main loudspeakers for left and right and a center cluster of three UPA-2P compact narrow Coverage loudspeakers. Delays are UPM-1 compact wide coverage loudspeakers and a UPA-2P compact narrow coverage loudspeaker is used as a fill. Two 650-P subwoofers handle low frequencies.
