Unlike other forms of media, which talk at you, the web presents the unique ability to talk among you.

PSW Installed Sound is conceived as a conduit that allows quick, open and spontaneous exchange of information with your fellow professional A/V colleagues, a unique group that includes, among others, contractors, consultants, manufacturers and educational organizations.

Interactive. Community. My two favorite terms in describing what the web, at its best, is all about. While my official title is "editor" of the Installed Sound site, I see the role as primarily being one of moderator, a "keeper of the conduit."

Have a look around at the site. You'll see that we're beginning to build a framework. But this is a process that I don’t think should ever be complete. Installed Sound will be dynamic, always changing, never static - in short, it's intended to reflect what's most important to you and your profession at any given time.

Our goal is providing a useful forum for idea and information exchange. The name Craig Janssen no doubt should be familiar to many. With Acoustic Dimensions, he's performed countless highly successful designs marked by overall excellence.

My experience with Craig's knowledge and creativity comes first-hand, having collaborated with him on numerous articles that detail these projects. I can tell you this: not only is Craig a world-class systems professional, he’s an excellent communicator who is always very willing to share what he knows.

As a result I'm delighted that Craig will be participating in our first live chat room on Installed Sound, scheduled for January. Following Craig’s kickoff, we’ll be hosting a regular schedule of live chat sessions featuring a diverse range of professionals. Transcripts and highlights from these sessions will also be archived and posted on the site, available for review at any time.

We're taking our earliest steps in leveraging the unique communication model that is the web, translating it to a forum beneficial to A/V professionals. I look forward to conversing among as many of you as possible as this journey proceeds.
