Euphonix, a world leader in large-format mixing consoles and control surfaces, today announced EuCon version 1.3 for the Euphonix MC and System 5-MC controllers.
This newly released version of software offers increased support for more DAWs, and includes the new Studio Monitor Pro application for professional surround monitoring for film dubbing applications.

EuCon is a high-speed control protocol that connects Euphonix control surfaces, such as the MC, System 5-MC and System 5, to multiple networked DAWs and video applications via Ethernet. EuCon is 250 times faster and has 8 times the resolution of MIDI and allows Euphonix control surfaces to access multiple DAWs over a network. Applications such as Steinberg’s Nuendo, Apple’s Logic Studio and Merging’s Pyramix include direct EuCon support, while applications such as Pro Tools and Final Cut Studio are controlled via high-speed HUI and Mackie Control Universal protocols.

The new EuCon 1.3 includes support for the recently released Nuendo 4 that adds major automation features to this EuCon enabled application. Dedicated support for Digital Performer and Sony Vegas has been included in EuCon 1.3 using high-speed Mackie Control emulation over Ethernet. PC users will be pleased to note that Mackie Control Universal protocol is now supported on both Mac OSX and Windows XP platforms.

Studio Monitor Pro surround monitoring application is now available as an paid option for MC and System 5-MC controllers which currently ships with the Express version. Studio Monitor Pro is a complete multi-format monitoring software application for Mac OSX or Windows XP that connects audio from applications and hardware I/O to dedicated hardware outputs used as monitor feeds. The software emulates a professional monitor matrix found in mixing consoles, such as the Euphonix System 5, and allows the MC and System 5-MC control surface monitor sections to control monitor feeds and sources. Studio Monitor Pro adds extra professional features to Studio Monitor Express and is designed for use in film dubbing environments. Additional features include 7.1 formats, up to 48 external inputs, twin source inputs for PEC/Direct monitoring, 4 talkback channels, user configurable source layouts such as a L R Ls Rs C B, and a monitor insert for Dolby encoders.

Martin Kloiber, Euphonix CEO, was very enthusiastic about the new version of EuCon, “This is a major EuCon upgrade that takes DAW and control surface integration to a new level. Nuendo 4 adds major new automation features to rival any other DAW out there and EuCon 1.3 lets our users tap into this new power. We have spent the last five years solidifying the principles of EuCon control and now it is time to start adapting EuCon to new partner products such as Digital Performer and Sony Vegas. Studio Monitor Pro now completes our design work on this unique software application that adds complete professional monitoring to all our products – it’s an exciting time for us, this is the start of something really big.”

Eucon 1.3 is free of charge to all MC and System 5-MC customers and is available to download from the Euphonix website. Studio Monitor Pro trail version is included in the package and can be activated by purchasing an iLok key from Euphonix distributors.
