XTA DP448 Accelerate REM’s Live Sound On 2008 World Tour

It’s been 28 years since REM sprung out of a small Atlanta suburb and the band are still going strong, making good on their reputation as an exceptional live band.

With the release of their 14th recording, Accelerate, the band regain their title as the definitive American rock and roll band—and are barnstorming the world live in concert to prove it.

The tour kicked off in late May and dates extend around the globe through November of 2008.

Oxnard, Calif.-based Rat Sound Systems Inc. is serving as the sound reinforcement company for the tour, supplying six (6) XTA DP448’s for use in tandem with a Wiser Wireless System, with system engineer Lee Vaught (pictured above) at its helm.

DP448’s are a favorite of Rat Sound and have been used extensively on tours in the recent past with the Red Hot Chili Peppers, Ben Harper, Jack Johnson, Tom Waits, Pearl Jam, and on the Warped and Rockstar Energy Mayhem Festival tours, among others.

“I have carried XTA 448s on every tour for the last two years,” says Vaught. “The 448, when used with the XTA Wiser Wireless system, is the easiest configurable system I have ever used. With the addition of the new PEQ filters, as well as the GEO EQs, you couldn’t ask for a more responsive system tool than the 448. I have all the tools that help me get the system up and running to the engineer’s tastes and specifications. I never leave the shop without them.”
