Sabine Adds to Navigator Line of System Processors
Summary
Transparent Mic Preamps, Wall-Mounted Controllers, and Blank Front Panel Versions Now Available
ALACHUA, FL – Sabine’s Navigator line of System Processors is growing again. Navigators are now available with Microphone Preamps, giving the user either mic or line inputs on all version of Navigators. The new Preamps will also provide phantom power.
“Our customers have embraced the Navigators for their great sound quality, and these new mic preamps were engineered to maintain that same pristine audio quality,” states Sabine Marketing Director Rob Rothschild. “These preamps are transparent and they let the sound of your microphone shine through the mix.”
Switching between mic and line level is done using a switch on the Navigator NAV240, NAV360, and NAV480. On the high-end, 96 KHz units – the NAV4802 and NAV8802 – switching can be done using the remote control software.
For elegant, trouble-free end-user control, the new optional wall panel remotes (NAVRC-100) can be added to an installation. The attractive, brushed aluminum 2-gang remote controls have a built-in LCD that displays user-assigned presets. Each NAVRC-100 is capable of controlling up to 8 Navigators, and each Navigator can be addressed and controlled by up to 8 NAVRC-100 wall-panels. This makes for a very powerful control system, and allows for multiple control points for multiple Navigators, all of which can be mounted strategically throughout the installation.
Sabine is also providing customers with blank front panel versions of each of the Navigators. These S-series Navigators provide the same functions as the front-panel control versions, and they will have the ability for an expanded feature-set – beyond that of the standard versions. These blank front Navigators are well-suited for the installation market, and provide a significant cost savings over the front-panel control versions.
All these Navigators feature a new hardware platform, a new front-panel design, new remote control software, and more input/output and control choices for even greater flexibility. Sabine has enhanced the Navigator’s sound quality with the addition of 96 KHz sample rates on the top two models – the NAV4802 and the NAV8802.
Control is what the Navigator is all about.
More than just hardware improvements, the totally redesigned second generation Navigator Remote Control software provides a more robust, intuitive, heads-up display of all systems status and fast access to all parameters. Furthermore, the new software allows engineers the choice of two view configurations: Matrix or Mixer. The mixer interface is especially useful for engineers who are more comfortable with a mixer-style control surface, and the addition of mic preamps makes the Navigator a total system solution for matrix mixing and signal routing.
Navigators start at $899.95 (MSRP) for a 2x4 input/output model. The single-rack space units come in five new model configurations: the NAV240, NAV360, NAV480, NAV4802, and NAV8802.
Sabine continues to set the industry standard for multifunctional DSP and the Navigator is an excellent example. With all functions able to operate concurrently, audio engineers and other users alike will delight in the ability to set up to parametric, high-shelf or low-shelf EQ filters on all input/outputs, and eliminate feedback with up to eight patented FBX Feedback Exterminator® filters on every input. Gain staging and mixing is available for each channel, and all routing is completely adjustable – any input to any output. Crossover filters with slopes to 48 dB are included, as well as presets for fast setups.
Navigator users can adjust compressor/limiter settings, digital speaker delay and even system polarity. In addition, audio engineers will love the Navigator’s easy-to-set and recall 30-program memory, multiple security levels and password protection.
Sabine also makes the Graphi-Q2 series of multi-input/output digital system processors and the 2.4 GHz Smart Spectrum Wireless Microphone series. Both include the industry-standard FBX Feedback Exterminator.
