Martin Audio Aq’s Take Flight In Historic Sywell Aerodrome

Summary

  • Located in the heart of Northamptonshire, England, Sywell Aerodrome combines a general aviation airfield, aviation museum and the authentic art deco Aviator Hotel.

Sywell has developed its second hangar into a fully equipped conference facility using Harrow-based integrators Middlesex Sound & Lighting (MSL) who have equipped the facility with Martin Audio’s new full-range architectural AQ Series managed by MSL Project Manager Lance Bromhead . Sywell Aerodrome event manager Karen Joseph says that Hangar Two will appeal to an upscale client base and also be used as an annex to the main hangar when necessary. “We will host seminars and general meetings with full AV facilities including a drop-down motorized screen and full monitoring,” she said. The hangar doors also open at the rear to offer complete vehicle accessibility––giving the space further potential for event staging.

The audio has been carefully designed into a three-zone system, providing even coverage of all mic and line devices. Four black AQ5’s are wall-mounted high along the back of the room, providing rear fills. Flanking the Steel deck stage are two clusters of AQ12’s, optimized using Martin Audio’s dedicated AQX system controller, which effectively form the PA wings. Separate zones are dedicated to the stage and rear––with a third to Hangar One, so the sources can be switched between the two spaces.
