INNOVASON Sy80 stars at the East Coast Music Awards
This year marked the 20th Anniversary of the East Coast Music Awards in Canada, and to celebrate, the East Coast Music Association (ECMA) staged a full four-day music and industry extravaganza, the 2008 East Coast Music Awards, Festival & Conference in Fredericton, New Brunswick, from February 7-10. Attended by more than 2,500 industry representatives and performers, the event has grown from a one-day event hosted in a Halifax bar, to a forum that has helped to promote many of Atlantic Canada’s artists to national and international presenters and buyers.
When Dream Street Pictures and CBC (Canadian Broadcasting Corporation) was asked to film and record the event for a television documentary, they turned to the INNOVASON Sy80 to get the job done.
FOH technician Al Strickland used the console to handle the delicate task of ensuring that all musical performances were captured and saved. He noted “the ability to save sound checks with this console is a godsend. We had three different shows in the memory from three days of sound checks. All scenes recalled perfectly.” He went on to say that, “The ability to record 64 tracks via a single cat5 cable using the LX6464ES sound card was a real bonus as a back-up to the mobile recording studio. If the production company has any glitches in their audio tracks after the fact, the show is a loss. The producers of the show have instant relief that the tracks are all there from 2 sources – the recording tracks and the Sy80.”
The 2008 East Coast Music, Awards, Festival & Conference was featured in a one hour national TV program titled BARENAKED EAST COAST MUSIC! hosted by Steven Page of the Barenaked Ladies. BARENAKED EAST COAST MUSIC! was shown on Sunday, March 2nd at 7:00 pm on CBC Television
