Finally ... An affordable condenser mic with real mojo!
The HM-2d is a unique large diaphragm condenser mic voiced to sound big and beefy — like a quality dynamic mic.
Also, because the HM-2d is a transformerless condenser mic, it’s far less susceptible to the loading effects that can drastically change the sound of dynamic mics from one pre-amp to the next. It’s got a round top end with a fast bottom for a sound that’s clear yet tight. It’s a truly unique and eminently useful sound. The frequency response varies only about 2 dB between 70 Hz and 12 kHz.
The mic ships in a foam-lined box and comes with a quality shock mount, 1-year unconditional warranty plus a 21-day satisfaction guarantee. If you don’t like what it does for your music return it in good condition within 21 days for a full, no-questions-asked refund. We’ll even pay your return postage if you live in Canada or the USA.
Deeper body design
The HM-2d features a specially designed capsule pedestal that minimizes diffraction effects and effectively dampens body resonances. Most low-cost microphones produce an audible “ping” when you tap them. This extra sound makes its way into your recordings. The HM-2d makes a hollow dead sound when you tap it. Remember: a microphone is supposed to transduce music, not make it.
Wolf in sheep’s clothing
The HM-2d is a precision-made large diaphragm condenser microphone, but it’s voiced more like some of the big dynamic mics orignally used in broadcasting. It doesn’t sound “just like” these mics but it has a similar smooth punchy character instead of a “peaky” sound.
