Ralph Cipriatti: Is it true that you are Kenton Forsythe's long-lost
brother?
OSM: That is cold, brother. I respect Kenton very much. He is a
legend. But come on, he is just a wee tad older than me.
Ken: I know Kenton Forsythe, and you’re no Kenton Forsythe!
OSM: Would the senator from Massachusetts stand down?
Gene S: Had they passed the 'inverse square law' back when Bogen
was king and Vocalmasters ruled?
OSM: Gene, what are you hinting at? I sense a secret hidden agenda
in your question. Did the Cancer Man put you up to this? Bogen -
now there was a mixing device.
Abdul Ekyuu: Yo, Old Man Sound, Doug Fowler recently waxed poetic
in a new study hall posting about SMAART. I don't get it. If flat
is good, why is Christy Canyon so popular?
OSM: Because guys like you keep strip clubs afloat, as well as the
films of Ms. Canyon. I loved the days when I would run into a system
that hyped a human voice PERFECTLY. I have had some strange experiences
on flat systems. Not always what one wants.
Abdul Ekyuu: For $200 dollars and a chance at the bonus round...Name
both Shure Brothers.
OSM: Shecky and .. I DON'T KNOW!
gus: With the advent of all the new technologies out there, is it
more fun now, or was a big 'ol pile of Martin and McIntosh more
exciting to run?
OSM: It was more adventurous then. I have fun now. I had fun then.
More ability to focus more clean sound nowadays is great. We have
the option of hyping subs now, for the exaggerated kick that some
love and some hate. There were bad engineers hurting people then
and now, unfortunately. Cool that people on the LAB can ask about
given bands or engineers they are to host soon.
Gene S: Does the OSM run (or invent) subs on aux?
OSM: I have done it both ways. At the club we offer people either
option, but they will not be allowed to blow our stuff up.
Chence W: What do you think about in-ear monitors?
OSM: Good for bands of hired hands who do what they are told. Musicians
should be free to choose. It is harder for the mixers with wedges;
that's life. Those who wish to be musicians should do so. If you
are a mixer, and a music fan, you want the musician to be comfortable
and excited. As long as this does not involve underage partners.
