Grampa Lee: Right, but for a "concert" rig you had to
either build/design your own boxes or know someone who could. The
checkbooks could tell bands and promoters that they had a "state
of the art" speaker system, whether or not they had personnel
that knew what they were doing.
OSM: Errr .. sort of. I certainly ran into people like that, but
in many years past as well as the 850 era, is what I am saying.
Grampa Lee: Proving that "age and experience will always defeat
youth and checkbooks", eventually. Of course those "kids"
with youth, experience AND skill amazes me.
OSM: Exactly. I meet some scary smart youth every year.
Ken: Does the OSM know what SMAART IS? And can he run it on his
Gameboy?
OSM: Oh, like you know how to run SMAART, right? I have a Handspring
Visor. I do not run SMAART or SIM, but know plenty of people who
do.
Ken: How can you tune a system without measurement?
OSM: With these things called EARS. Heard of 'em?
gus: Would you rather deal with a prima donna 'boy band' type of
group, or a nice, washed up '80's hair-metal band?
OSM: Ah ah ha. What have you been running into? Those are two funny
choices. I would not fit in with either. I like that "world"
music.
Moderator: How important is it to like the music your mixing?
OSM: It is the ultimate state to work in. If you like them, are
well paid, and the rig is nice ... wow. If they are ethical, that
is nice. Heartbreak is seeing a musical idol turn into a total alcoholic
who dies young.
Ken: What do you love in terms of product out there?
