Larry: And every computer that sends someone to space has how many backups, at what expense? And how many launches have been delayed due to a computer malfunction? How many shows can be delayed by hours/days due to computer failure?

Larry (continued): We, as a company, under our strong brand name Paragon, do not yet trust the technology. We cannot afford to allow our product to be the weak link in the system at this point. But don't get me wrong, we believe in the long-term viability of digital. Current main issues: inadequate redundancy. Smooth switchover when a lockup happens (which it will). A to D and D to A quality - they simply do not sound good enough for top-drawer live production! And, the potential for the learning curve to be steep for the average user.

Paul Tucci: Did you foresee audio as the career path or a stepping-stone on the career path?

Larry: Originally I planned to tour until I dropped, but the opportunity presented itself to get involved in manufacture and design of the very audio equipment that I love to operate. Also I had kids and wanted to get off the road, at least partially.

Jim L: What about digital control of analog signal paths? Is this a better option?

Larry: At the moment it seems to be viable. There are good products out there now like this that some prefer. Others are more comfortable with a "one knob, one function" console. Please understand, ATI is not opposed to digital When it's right and mature in our opinion, expect the ATI Group to offer digital products, with a punch!

Moderator: I'd like to thank Mr. Droppa for sharing his time and knowledge... and for all those T-shirts!

Larry: It's been a pleasure. Thanks very much to all for being here, and for asking some excellent questions. I've appreciated the comments and the bit of nostalgia.

Joel: Thank Larry. Ricardo Mizutani from Brazil says hello.

Paul Tucci: Can I pickup my T-shirt on Friday?

Moderator: I also would like to invite everyone to join the "Live Sound" chat room for "After Chat". Thanks to everyone for stopping by. Have a good evening.
