Andy: You've thought of everything :)

Larry: You know what? We love it and we're trying to cover the bases.

Moderator: Is Stevie’s band all IEM, or a combination of IEM and wedges?

Larry: It's a combination. Stevie and a couple others are on IEM, with the rest of the band still use wedges. We did one tour with all the band on IEM, but because he tours so infrequently, it' it's easier to just have the sound companies show up with wedges. It's a full-time job to get Stevie’s mix to happen accurately for a whole show.

Paul Tucci: Do you do any “spatial voodoo” with Stevie's IEM mix to give him a better sense of location of the crowd?

Larry: We've always used monitors with a high isolation factor, and the mix I generate gives him the same sense of space regardless of his location on the stage. I use stereo shotgun mics to pick up the audience, which accurately reflect the spatial location of people in the crowd. If someone shouts at him from the left, he will turn his head left to answer...

Larry (continued): PS: I can also tell him on mic - in his ears - where the sound is coming from.

Andy: More "product ideas": In addition to the Channel Strip, perhaps just the compressor/gate in it’s own box?

Larry: It's certainly been discussed, but it seems there are a lot of one-function devices on the market that do a fine job, and with our ownership of API Audio, we have an entire arsenal of the best audio processors money can buy!
Andy: true; it's a crowded market.

David Elliott: Hi Larry, long time no chat. The shotguns - do you leave them up all the time or do you fade them during tunes.

Larry: Wow - Hi Dave! It has been ages. No, I ride the shotguns in and out as necessary. If Stevie wants the audience participation or between songs, I bring in the audience as necessary.
