Tom Danley: Unlimited I can't do, but if you’re interested, I can show you how to increase it by at least 2X for about $50.

David: For our application, we would like a very stiff cone on a very supple suspension. It helps if it can do long excursions and handle lots of power. I personally believe the under-hung voice coil is a really great improvement. Would it involve putting anything in the signal path?

Brad Davis: On your web site, I believe the B-Ones were rated at 2000 watts program, 5000 peak. Is this range the same for both woofer models? What's your amp recommendation for these monsters?

David: The ratings are based on the performance specs of the Seismic driver. We recommend at least 1000 watts up to 2000 watts. Specifically it depends on how you plan to configure them, but Crown and QSC and others make amps which all work very well.

Brad Davis: You said once in an e-mail that some clubs in Houston had prototype Rhino Acoustics tops. Anything you can tell us about these or other projects?

David We have the capability to custom design application specific cabinets or even built-from-concrete installation bass horns. Mr. van Zyl's horn technology is very adaptable. There is the issue of marketing resources. We feel we have an excellent product for which the industry is hungry. It is outstanding in many areas of performance. Our bass cabinets are our focus.

Jamie in Toronto: What is the most common error you see in live sound subwoofer set ups, and how do you fix the problem?

David: I'm not a mix engineer, but what I think I've heard is usually not enough clean bass output to meet the demands of the mix without going into distortion and coloring the sound.

Jamie in Toronto: A lot of companies are coming out with MONSTER get LOUD subs (JBL GTI, CV Stroker, MTX RFL). Is this the direction the industry is going?

David: Whatever anyone else may be doing, getting loud is not what we're about. We're about a clean, clear, musical performance from the subs, as well as the rest of the system. I don't care how loud it gets if it sounds like crap. It has to be clean and in control.

Michael: Do you think Bassmaxx works better outdoors than indoors?

David: I think the B-One’s advantages over other designs are more apparent outdoors, but indoors, they are a beautiful thing. They energize a room like nothing else I've ever heard. They allow for the system to be run quieter and yet still maintain a high level of intensity in the audience. The smooth, effortless bottom end doesn't hurt people's ears the way a screaming high horn does.

Moderator: This will be the last question for the evening. Thank you for your time, David.

Jamie in Toronto: Are there any tours using your subs that we could catch?

David: Not just yet. We'll keep you posted.

Chat.boy: This concludes this evening’s chat with David Lee. On behalf of ProSoundWeb, I'd like to thank David Lee for sharing his time and knowledge. The chat was organized and moderated by Dave Dermont, Another Dave.

David: Thanks for giving me the opportunity to share some of our philosophies. It was a lot of fun.
