Members of the LAB community began the LAB Subwoofer Project years ago, and many members have contributed drawings, specs, photos, and experiences in designing and building a LAB subwoofer. We have a forum dedicated to the LAB Subwoofer and all the LSP Documentation right here.

DXF drawings for 18mm wood

Eric Hendricks has converted Jeremy’s .dwg files (see below) to .dxf format. Thanks, Eric!

Jeremy Bridge has converted the drawings for use with 18mm wood, which is the most common material. Thanks, Jeremy!

Jeremy’s DXF drawings for use with 18mm wood now available as PDFs (Adobe Acrobat), thanks to Raj from Canada.

By the way, Jeremy notes that “these plans are MUCH easier to build completely in metric. The imperial measurements are ugly.”

Looking over the drawings, I can,t find a view that dimensions how far the baffle is in from the side. I see that on one of the assembly pictures that it is suggested a six inch scrap spacer be used for baffle alignment and height. So I am assuming that the correct dimension between the side panel and baffle is six inches? The reported height of the speaker is 6.44 inches. So this would mean that the speaker sticks up inside the access hole cutout leaving approx 1/8 inch clearance between the speaker and the access door of 1/4 inch aluminum. Is this correct?

Dan Magers says

Robert, Correct. It’s a very tight fit for the driver. There is some thermal coupling allowing the aluminum cover plate to sink some heat from the magnet ass’y.
I positioned three dabs of thermal conductive puddy on the magnet before installing the cover.
Do not cover the driver’s rear vent.

Check out the pictures on the website of J R Sound Co. on MY Space. They built a pair in three days except for loading and putting on the finish. All the pics are in bare wood.

would be better to pack them as one file instead of four seperate parts.

Loved to read your blog. I would like to suggest you that traffic show most people read blogs on Mondays. So it should encourage blogger to write new write ups over the weekend primarily

When a separate system can’t be had and the channel count allows it, I use the direct outs of each channel that is required in the monitors and run them to spare channels in the desk. I can then avoid eq and inserts on the FOH channel effecting the monitors.
