By PSW Staff • May 19, 2014 NEXO GEO S12 arrays flying at Philfest at Northwestern, supplied by Sound Works Productions Sound Works Productions of Frankfort, IL was once again tapped to provide audio production for the recent Philfest, an annual collaboration between A&O Productions and Students for Ecological and Environmental Development (SEED) at Northwestern University in Evanston. The event features bluegrass and folk music as part of an effort to promote environmental awareness and also raises money for the Rocky Mountain Institute, a non-profit aimed at the sustainable use of resources. The day is held in honor of Phil Semmer, a former SEED member, who passed away while studying abroad. Located at the Norris Center’s East Lawn at Northwestern, Sound Works supplied a main system headed by flown arrays of five NEXO GEO S12s, joined by two RS18Ray Subs per side (ground stacked), with two NEXO PS10 loudspeakers providing front fill. All loudspeakers were driven with a NEXO NX4x4 amp rack. A Yamaha M7CL digital console was posted at front of house with an LS9 digital console at monitors. . “The GEOS12 sounds amazing, is easy to set up and fly from a mobile SL100 stage, and gets the coverage we need for the Norris Center East Lawn,” states Sam Boren, vice president of business development for Sound Works. This year’s entertainment bill at Philfest included The Deadly Gentleman from Boston, followed by Sunnyside Up and Todd Kessler.
