Action at the Green Stage at the 2014 Osheaga Festival, which was outfitted with a main system headed by K-Array Concert Series loudspeakers.

For the 2014 edition of the Osheaga Festival in Montreal, Sennheiser Canada in collaboration with Sonorisation Ranger supplied K-Array loudspeakers to deliver sound reinforcement at the Green Stage as well as the Sennheiser VIP area.

The K-Array Concert Series was the choice for the Green Stage, with a cluster of five KH4 mid/high loudspeakers flown next to a cluster of five KS4 low-end loudspeakers on each side of the stage. Additional stacks of six KS4s were positioned on the ground beneath the clusters.

Low-frequencies were bolstered even further by eight KO70 dual-21-inch self-powered subwoofers in front of the stage. Four K-Array KH15 mid/high loudspeakers stationed on top of the subs provided front fill coverage.

“The Green Stage concept has an environmental spin to it. High SPL PA systems have to conform to low emission, more sustainable power sources,” explains Marcel Savard, production manager for Sennheiseer Canada.

The system designed by Vaino Gennaro, business director for Sennheiser Canada. “The setup of the complete system was incredibly fast,” he notes.“The precise tuning and time alignment of the system gave us the opportunity to perfectly match the PA system with the needs of the entire venue. Amazing results for an amazing sound experience.”

Singer Travis Scott, who missed his live performance on the Green Stage due to travel complications, instead surprised the audience in the VIP area with an improvised mini live gig. He was reinforced with a K-Array KR202 system, which delivered a powerful and precise reproduction of the performance.

“It’s always exciting when an artist can surprise and entertain the audience, but it’s a big challenge for sound engineers and event organizers. Thankfully we had the K-Array KR202 on hand and everyone was delighted with the results,” Gennaro concludes.

K-Array, in partnership with Sennheiser Canada president Jean Langlais, developed the concept of the Green Stage PA that’s been utilized for the past four years.
