By PSW Staff • April 21, 2014 HOW-TO Workshops, the nationally-recognized hands-on sound training resource, will be in southern California for one week this year, from May 17 to 25. Four workshops are already scheduled: two community (open registration for churches in the area) in San Diego and Hacienda Heights, and two private (for only host church teams) in Irvine and Fountain Valley. Churches seeking private hands-on training and sound system assessment should contact HOW-TO Workshops here to reserve dates from May 19-23. Over the past 14 years, HOW-TO Workshops have become a go-to resource for churches and higher learning institutions, training some 1,200-1,500 worship team members annually. Workshops prepare team members in the art and operation of sound equipment, offering more than 30 hands-on workstations for attendees. All workshops are led by experienced sound engineer and author Michael Sokol and are produced by Hector La Torre for Fits & Starts Productions. Church members looking to register for the community workshops should go to www.howtosound.com/register to reserve a seat. Note that registration is held to only 60 attendees per workshop. HOW-TO Workshops visit more than 35 cities each year, and also serve to showcase the latest sound equipment from companies such as Mackie, Audix, Line 6, Galaxy, Studio Six, Elite Core Audio and Whirlwind.
