By PSW Staff • January 13, 2014 The new D.A.S. Audio Aero 40A line arrays flying at Coliseum Tallahassee in Florida Coliseum Tallahassee, located in Florida’s capital city and regularly hosting national, regional and local live acts as well as DJ performances, recently upgraded its house sound reinforcement system with D.A.S. Audio Aero 40A line arrays. Tallahassee-based Ultimate Sound and Light designed and deployed the Coliseum’s new system, which also includes D.A.S. LX-218A powered subwoofers plus a D.A.S.net I/O panel for system management. “The club’s previous sound system setup was based on D.A.S. Aero 12A line arrays, which they outgrew,” explains Pete Barbaree of Ultimate Sound and Light. “They required a setup with greater output capability and wanted similar, if not better, audio quality, which they had come to appreciate with their D.A.S. equipment. After hearing a demo of the Aero 40A line arrays in their space, they opted to stay within the D.A.S. Aero Series 2 family of products.” The main space inside the Coliseum is roughly 8,000 square feet, measuring 80 feet wide by 100 feet deep. Both the stage and the DJ booth are located at the rear of the room, facing the main entrance. To cover the space, the new system incorporates arrays of six Aero 40A modules flown left and right, joined by LX-218A subs positioned in five stacks of two enclosures each that are recessed underneath and evenly distributed across the front center of the stage area. “The Aero 40A line array was the perfect solution for this venue, which packs in patrons to its capacity night after night for hard hitting concerts,” Barbaree says. “The system has been running for normal club operation since August and has powered approximately 20 national acts since that time without breaking a sweat. “With the upgrade, we have eliminated the need for any artist, no matter how large, to fly their touring PA systems,” he adds. “The venue management is very pleased, as are the acts that have performed with the system. I believe it’s been a really positive experience for everyone involved.” The monitoring system was also upgraded with two D.A.S. Avant 118A enclosures along with six Aero 12A line array modules. “Since day one,” Barbaree concludes, “D.A.S. has provided excellent support via their well trained and personable staff—not to mention their rock-solid product line that sells itself. Carlos Henao, the U.S. accounts manager who served as our contact on this project, has always been there for us, ready to help.” Ultimate Sound and Light D.A.S.
