The newest iOS test and measurement accessory from Studio Six Digital—iTestMic—will make its official debut at the InfoComm 2012 show in Las Vegas, at booth C12422

iTestMic transforms an iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch in to a professional-grade test & measurement platform when combined with the AudioTools app, which provides SPL meters, speaker polarity, RTA, FFT and other system analysis tools.

Studio Six Digital president Andrew Smith notes, “After developing our AudioTools test and measurement app, we knew that the next step would be to create a suite of interface devices and microphones to bring the iOS platform up to the level where professionals could use these tools as their go-to options.

“There has never been a more affordable, easy-to-use, and powerful test and measurement platform available.”

iTestMic plugs into the 30-pin dock connector, and communicates to the iOS device using digital audio, avoiding the marginal cell-phone mic and extreme voice filtering that Apple does not let us bypass, even with the headset jack.

The precision ADC is in iTestMic, which uses an advanced low-jitter clock recovery process. This results in a flat microphone response, similar to that of a pro test mic and a USB preamp in a PC.

The iTestMic is powered from the iOS device directly, and uses minimal power. It provides flat 20 Hz—20 kHz +/-3 dB response, low self-noise, and the ability to measure from 27 to 120
dBA SPL, with an omni pickup pattern.

Priced at 199.99 (U.S. pricing), iTestMic ships in July 2012, available exclusively from AudioControl Industrial.

AudioTools is available at the App Store, and is priced at $19.99 for the base app. Many additional modules are available as in-app purchases at extra cost. The app is on sale during InfoComm 2012, available for $9.99.
