Rain Computers has released the follow up to the LiveBook Mobile Audio Workstation line. Called LiveBook A2 (the “A” is for audio, the “2” because it’s the second generation) offers an array of new features including quad-core processing, discrete graphics and the choice of a glossy or matte high resolution 15.6-inch screen.
LiveBook A2 is powered by Intel’s “Sandy Bridge” series of mobile processors. But unlike common, off-the-shelf computers, this one is designed by Rain to guarantee the performance and stability audio professional demand.
It also includes a quad-core processor up to 2.5GHz, the option to add 16 gigabytes of memory (the industry-standard is a mere 8GB), the NVIDIA GeForce GT 540M graphics processor that can be switched off via a button on LiveBook to save battery power when you’re stuck on an airplane, and a bevy of high speed ports including USB 3.0 and eSATA.
RainCare Encompass Creative Computer Support – free with every Rain computer – covers the “grey area” between the computer, software and hardware. This in an effort to help users avoid the vicious circle of tech support calls common when using gear from many different manufacturers.
“LiveBook A2 represents an incredible change for mobile audio production, says Kevin Jacoby, CEO of Rain Computers. “We’ve brought down the price of true high performance creative computing in a laptop while still maintaining the quality, consistency and performance that makes Rain one of a kind.”
Like all Rain computers, LiveBook A2 is tested and certified for use with popular creative software like Pro Tools for audio production, Serato for DJs and the Adobe Master Collection for everything else.
The new LiveBook A2 is available directly from the Rain Custom Shop at the company website (link below), and will soon be available at Rain authorized dealers like AMS, Amazon.com, Guitar Center and Best Buy.
