Caméléon has opened its first ecologically-built store in Europe on 10,000 square meters of shopping space, at Woluwe-Saint-Lambert in Belgium.

The professional audio spec was put together by Brussels-based TV Connections Image & Sound, using 150 QSC loudspeakers and over 4 km of cable, with the QSC Audio BASIS platform meeting the control, zone splitting, monitoring and processing needs of amplification and loudspeaker systems over an Ethernet network.

All the QSC equipment was supplied by AED Import & Distribution, the manufacturer’s Benelux distributors.

TV Connections’ Arnaud (Nono) Famerée, who runs the pro audio department, chose a QSC solution based on its big sound characteristics and easy implementation of the audio network, using BASIS 914lz DSP and proprietary QSControl.net software for system management and monitoring.

The company designed the environment into eight zones and specified coverage via QSC’s 100V line systems. Used throughout are quantities of AcousticDesign AD-S52T, AD-S32T, AD-S282H and AD-C81Tw acoustically-matched ceiling subwoofer speakers.

Driving the system are QSC’s CX series multi-channel amplifiers (CX302V, CX108V, CX204V, CX1202V and CX602V); these were chosen as they not only provide an efficient solution but contain DataPort connectors, which interface with the BASIS remote management system.

Continuous background music and voice announcements can now be heard transparently, and with high intelligibility by visitors to the store.

The firm CW Architects developed the concept together with the Université Catholique de Louvain (Architecture and Climat) and their spin-off Matriciel.
