Powersoft amplifiers were used by Kingston Audio Services to drive sound reinforcement systems at the Gospel Tent and Gentilly Stage at the 2010 New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival, presented by Shell, as well as at the 37th annual Telluride Bluegrass Festival.
“We used Powersoft K3, K6 and K10 DSP amplifiers to power the system at the Gospel Tent,” says Simon Fraser, owner of Kingston Audio Services. “Powersoft drove an all-Outline loudspeaker system that included Butterfly loudspeakers and SubTech 218 subwoofers with Mantas loudspeakers for out fills. The Powersoft amplifiers were the perfect match for the Outline loudspeakers, giving us a trouble-free, great-sounding system to support the thundering vocals from the gospel choirs.”
At the Gentilly Stage at the jazz festival, Kingston Audio Services deployed a combination of Outline LAB 21 self-powered loudspeakers using Powersoft IPAL technology and LAB 21 driven by Powersoft K10 amplifiers featuring a unique damping factor control and DSP-controlled limiting.
At Telluride Bluegrass Festival, Powersoft drove both house and monitor systems. “Kingston was one of the early believers in Powersoft and every year we use them, the audiences are not disappointed,” says Fraser. “The amplifiers use far less current than traditional designs, they are lightweight and work under the difficult conditions. They work efficiently in the humid, hot conditions in New Orleans as well as the dry, thin air in the mountains.”
“I have been introducing equipment to the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival for more than 15 years,” says Tom Bensen, vice president and director of operations for Powersoft Advanced Technologies, LLC, the U.S. branch of Powersoft. “These festivals represent some of the most diverse and harsh conditions that any product could face and it serves as a wonderful proving ground for the reliability of Powersoft. All stages using Powersoft delivered audio quality that was crisp, clear and offered the tight, punchy bass response that is signature for Powersoft.”
