Eminence Speaker has introduced the PSD:2013, a new 85-watt compression driver offering a smoother frequency response through an improved voice coil design that reduces moving mass and increases high-frequency extension.
With a sensitivity rating of over 108 dB, the PSD:2013 has a 1-inch throat and 2-inch voice coil as well as a 34-ounch ferrite magnet. It has a sensitivity rating of over 108 dB and a usable frequency range of 1.5 kHz to 20 kHz.
“It can be argued that the PSD:2002 compression driver, and all of its OEM variations, have been loaded in more PA cabinets and enjoyed by more people over the years than any other compression driver in the world.” says Matt Marcum, design engineer at Eminence. “With that in mind, we knew we should begin this venture with the mature and historical reliability of the dome we’ve all appreciated at some point.
“Then we applied every improvement we could discover in order to yield the most value possible from this American-made device.”
