Crestron has announced that their Crestron Mobile and Crestron Mobile Pro control apps now provide systems designers and programmers with powerful new capabilities that simplify and expand the design possibilities of Crestron and Prodigy touch screen interfaces on Apple mobile devices.
Adding even more features to the already robust, top selling control app, built-in support for gauges and sliders now enables programmers to easily create amazing intuitive finger touch control effects in no time.
Lowering shades in the bedroom with a finger swipe on the iPad, iPhone or iPod touch, or setting and checking room temperatures from animated graphical gauges is a breeze.
Also, homeowners and facilities managers can now view streaming video from security cameras or from any video source fed through a Crestron Network Video Streamer or any MJPEG device, right on their mobile device.
Larger GUI projects can now also be loaded directly onto the mobile device allowing smaller control systems to run full-featured touch screen interfaces.
The latest version of the Crestron Mobile app elevates Apple touch screen devices to truly be a part of the Crestron touch panel family. Now, the features of full Crestron and Prodigy touch panels are available in a mobile format.
“Now, you have the option to load projects directly on the iPad or iPhone, in addition to hosting the project on the control system, like always,” said Crestron VP of Technology, Fred Bargetzi.
“This flexibility lets you switch phones without having to get anything reconfigured by the dealer - a huge time saver, especially for those on the road. You can also upgrade your mobile device, iPad to iPad 2 for example, switch carriers/phones and even add more devices, such as iPod touch - all without technical assistance.”
“If you’re running one of our new 3-Series control systems, there’s more than enough memory to accommodate any mobile program.”
Available from the iTunes App Store, Mobile Pro G was recently ranked #1 Top Grossing iPad Lifestyle App, and was the only industry iPad App to achieve Top 100 status in the iTunes App Store “Top Grossing iPad Apps” category.
Nearly all the programming capabilities of VisionTools Pro-e, Crestron’s comprehensive touch screen design software, are now possible when designing GUIs for Apple mobile devices.
Using VT Pro-e, programmers can create stunning touch screen interfaces that are fully integrated with a Crestron control network.
“Apple has essentially put a touch panel in the hands of millions. Mobile Pro G instantly turns the iPad into a fully-functioning Crestron touch screen,” added Bargetzi.
“Connecting the most popular mobile device to the most powerful control system provides installers with unlimited flexibility in system design and GUI creativity, and the homeowner or facilities manager with mobile control capabilities not previously available, or even imagined.”
Merging the magic of Apple iPad and iPhone with Crestron control innovation, Crestron Mobile and Mobile Pro apps turn any Apple mobile device into a powerful Crestron or Prodigy touch screen, enabling reliable, whole home and building control from anywhere in the world.
From any iPad, iPhone and iPod touch, users can control lighting, thermostats, and audio settings and view streaming video in multiple locations, such as a primary residence, vacation home and office, or across a campus.
The ultra-intuitive graphical interface also provides real-time feedback, displaying status of room temperatures, audio volumes and metadata including album, song and artist, shade positions and lighting levels, right on the mobile device screen.
